Horicon Post 157 made an impressive run at the Wisconsin American Legion Baseball Association 38th Annual Class A State Tournament in Prairie du Chien, finishing 1-2 after winning the Regional 5 championship.
Weather delayed Horicon's tournament opener, as Friday's first-round game was postponed because of rain and rescheduled for Saturday.
Horicon opened state tournament play with a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Gays Mills, dropping into the consolation bracket.
The team responded impressively on Sunday morning, defeating Athens 5-0 behind a dominant pitching performance from Reed Vorlob, who tossed a no-hitter to keep Horicon's season alive.
The victory advanced Horicon to a third-round consolation matchup against Westby on Monday morning.
