The Horicon boys basketball team closed out the regular season with a close win at home, which included two overtime periods, over Dodgeland (16-8, 9-5) on Thursday, Feb. 27.
With under 10 minutes to go in the first half, the Marshmen were down 12-3 to the Trojans, before Quinten Brown hit a three-pointer from the right corner to make it 13-6.
Then, Brown found an opportunity to steal the ball from Dodgeland and score two on a fast break layup to make it 13-8.
On the next possession, Barrett Meyer also made a three-pointer from the right corner. The Marshmen were heating up on offense and closed the gap to 13-11.
With five minutes to go in the first half, Carter Schwartz made a three-pointer. He was the second-leading scorer for Horicon with 18 points.

With two minutes left in the half, Horicon was still down by two 22-20, until Schwartz made two off an assist from Quin Jackl to tie the game up briefly.
In the final seconds before halftime, Jay Graven also found the sweet spot in the right corner for three. The score at halftime was in favor of Dodgeland, 30-29.
Horicon’s defense continued to cause trouble for Dodgeland in the second half and gave way for the Marshmen’s offense to tie the game up at 51.
Just like their first meeting this season, the Marshmen and Trojans went into overtime.
With the game at 55-53, Meyer made a three-pointer in the first overtime period to take a small lead, 56-55. However, the teams forced the game into a second overtime.
