Horicon Baseball Wins Trailways-East Conference

Last week, the Horicon Marshmen Baseball team was announced as the 2025 Trailways-East Conference champions. The team’s only losses were non-conference matchups with Mayville and Laconia, two teams performing well in the Flyway Conference. Horicon’s current record is 16-2, 12-0, with remaining regular season games this week.
On Friday, May 16, Horicon defeated Random Lake 9-3 in a non-conference game.
In the bottom on the first, Reed Vorlob earned a walk to be the first on base for Horicon. When Jay Graven came to the plate, he popped up a bunt allowing him to reach first and move Graven over. Laytin Krueger brought the boys home when he hit a two-run RBI double to take an early 2-0 lead.
Random Lake was held scoreless until the top of the third inning when they put one on the board.
Now 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Max LaBlanc doubled, and Barrett Meyer laid down a bunt to put the two on first and third. LaBlanc scored on a passed ball, and Ethan Strieff hit an RBI single, allowing Meyer to score and make it a 4-1 game.

Five more runs were scored by the Marshmen in the sixth inning, highlighted by a Strieff home run. Random Lake tried to make a comeback in the seventh but only scored two runs allowing Horicon to keep the win streak alive with the 9-3 victory.
Reed Vorlob earned the win on the mound, striking out eight, walking one, and allowing only four hits. Brady Anderson relieved Vorlob in the final inning to get the last two outs.
On Monday night, May 19, Horicon resumed the game against Wayland Academy that was paused due to the severe weather experienced on Thursday, May 15. The originally scheduled game against WLA was cancelled. The boys also traveled to Oakfield on Tuesday, May 20. The regular season concludes with a game at home against Lourdes/Valley Christian, beginning at 5 p.m.
