The Beaver Dam Golden Beavers girls hockey co-op suffered a narrow 3–2 loss to Lakeshore on Jan. 31, despite a strong effort at both ends of the ice.
Beaver Dam received goals from Macy Damon and Emersen Damon, with Emersen’s tally coming shorthanded. Mayville senior Lilian Mansueto added an assist as the Golden Beavers stayed within a goal throughout the contest.
In net, Beaver Dam turned to Dot Baker, who stopped 20 shots, keeping the game tight against a Lakeshore attack that capitalized twice on the power play. Horicon’s Lena Rueckert was part of the Golden Beavers’ defensive group that limited Lakeshore’s even-strength chances.
Lakeshore was led by two power-play goals from Bystol, including the eventual game-winner, while Bowers made 23 saves in goal for the visitors.
The Beaver Dam Golden Beavers girls hockey co-op came up just short in a 5–4 overtime loss to Cap City Cougars on Jan. 29 at the Beaver Dam Family Center Ice Arena, with the deciding goal scored 7:49 into the extra period.
Mayville senior Lilian Mansueto finished with a goal and an assist, while Brenna Rhodes, Macy Damon, and Della Baker also scored for Beaver Dam. Baker added two assists, and Emersen Damon chipped in a pair of helpers.
In net, Mayville’s Arianna Wallace made 28 saves, keeping the Golden Beavers competitive throughout regulation and overtime. Horicon’s Lena Rueckert contributed defensively as part of a unit that battled sustained pressure.
The Golden Beavers responded Tuesday night with a 3–2 home win over Stoughton, using balanced scoring and efficient defense to secure the victory.
Goals came from Emersen Damon, Mayville’s Lilian Mansueto, and Macy Damon, while assists were credited to E. Damon, M. Damon, Mansueto, Olivia Bates, Paige Tratar, and Della Baker.
Mayville’s Arianna Wallace turned aside 12 shots in goal as Stoughton’s Mueller faced heavy pressure, finishing with 31 saves.
With Thursday’s overtime loss, the Golden Beavers move to (12-6-1) in the season. The team continues to lead the Badger conference.
Looking ahead, the Golden Beavers return to the ice Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 7, at 3 p.m., with both games being played at Beaver Dam.
