The Fond du Lac Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) has recognized ten area high school seniors who exemplify the qualities of good citizenship.
Established in 1900, the Fond du Lac Chapter is one of the oldest DAR chapters in Wisconsin. The Chapter has recognized a senior from area high schools with the Good Citizen Award since 1934. A reception for the awardees and their guests was held on Saturday, March 22, at the Fond du Lac Public Library with City of Fond du Lac Police Chief Aaron Goldstein as the keynote speaker.
This year the students recognized as Good Citizens were: Kacey Luedke, Winnebago Lutheran Academy; Luis Garcia, Horace Mann High School; Diego Soto, St. Lawrence Seminary High School; Weston Poth, Lomira High School; Kendra Zahn, Chilton High School; Cyriana Reinwald, Horicon High School; Olivia Kremer, St. Mary’s Springs Academy; Derick Lira, Valders High School; Daniel Nutzhorn, Fond du Lac Christian School; and Sabur Machiros, Lourdes Academy. Kacey Luedke was the Fond du Lac Chapter recipient of this year’s Scholarship contest.
Mary Leb, chairperson of the Education Committee for the Fond du Lac Chapter, introduced the winners and their guests and presented the awards. Each Good Citizen awardee received a certificate, the Good Citizens pin, a poster explaining the pin, an honor cord to be worn at their graduation, a small American flag and a rose.
