The City of Mayville Common Council held a regular meeting on Monday, April 14 at 7 p.m.
An amendment to the 2024 budget was approved, which included the separation of the EMS and Fire fund 75, taking expenses and revenues for Charter Communications out of the general fund, separating the recreation and fireworks fund 85, and closing the ARPA special revenue fund and transferring funds to the capital project fund.
The EMS received 80% of the donations that comprised Fund 75, starting with a balance of $79,608.11, and the fire department received 20%, starting with a balance of $19,902.03.
$57,381.47 was transferred to the general fund from the fund used for Charter Communications services.
From Fund 85, recreations expenses and revenues were moved to the TAG budget and the remaining fund balance will be for Rock ‘N Boom. the amount transferred was $52,131.12.
Finally, the ARPA special revenue funds “were allocated towards previously completed projects.” The amount transferred to the capital project fund was $236,692.84.
The Council approved three related items: A State of Wisconsin Safe Drinking Water Loan Program financial assistance agreement for the upgrade projects to Wells 2, 3, and 5, in the amount of $4,438,350; the scope of engagement with Quarles & Brady LLP, proposing the issuance of the $4,438,350 City of Mayville water system revenue bonds; and a resolution authorizing the issuance and sale of up to $4,438,350 water system revenue bonds.
A work change directive was received and approved from CD Smith for the water/wastewater treatment facility upgrade project.
“They want you to be aware that the State decided to put the retention pond right on top of the water and sewer mains, so that will have to move the laterals there because the retention pond has to go there,” said City Administrator Stephanie Justmann. “There will be additional costs for that.”
The Council awarded the bid to BRH Enterprises, in the amount of $53,350, for park shelter maintenance at Ziegler, Ribbons Field, Firemans, and Theiler Parks.
The base bid for the asphalt paving/milling projects for sections of Easy Street, North High Street, Iron Lane, River Drive, and Tower drive, in the amount of $674,000, and alternates for Rae Lane, Riverview Heights, and Springbrook Court, in the amount of $167,000, combined came in under budget and will all take place in 2025.
A 1991 ladder truck will be sold on Wisconsin Surplus per the Council’s approval.
Last, Kunkel Engineering Group will be the engineer for the 2026 Grove Street reconstruction project and street and utilities reconstruction project on Muzzy and Allen Streets.
The next Common Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 12 at 7 p.m.
