The City of Mayville Common Council held regular and special meetings on Monday, Nov. 10.
The council moved to adopt the budget for the 2026 fiscal year. The proposed 2026 total general fund revenues are $5,129,711. The proposed total general fund expenditures are $5,099,511 and reserve for contingencies is $30,200.
For all governmental and proprietary funds, the estimated fund balance for January 1 is $27,910,872. The total revenues are $13,774,529, and the expenditures are $12,621,947. The estimated fund balance for December 31 is $29,063,454. The property tax total is $2,764,873.
The council also adopted the proposed levy rate per thousand of 5.937, with an approximate assessed value of $465,678,145.
Council Matters
• The City Clerk, Anastasia Gonstead, shared that through Wisconsin Disaster Relief, the city received $178,406.20, “representing approximately 73.4% in verified recovery efforts submitted under this program.”
• Gonstead also shared that the candidacy packet is available online on the City of Mayville website. The mayor, second, fourth, and sixth ward positions will be up for election in spring 2026. A primary would be February 17, with the spring election on April 7.
• The council approved an ordinance to repeal and replace section §195-3C of the municipal code, relating to mobile food vendor permits. It is a provision allowing single-day event permits.
• The council approved allowing the aquatic coordinator to work up to 29 hours per week to receive Wisconsin Retirement System eligibility.
• The council approved pay application no. 5, to CD Smith, in the amount of $1,231,520.96, for the water wastewater treatment facility upgrade. Funding is being provided by the Clean Water Fund.
• The council approved pay request no. 2 for the 2025 asphalt paving/milling project, in the amount of $79,150.84, to Northeast
Asphalt Inc.
• During the special common council meeting, a quote in the amount of $5,800 from Town and Country was approved for emergency repairs to a broken culvert at Forest and Green Bay Drives.
• Discussion on employee structure at the TAG Center, the TAG Center Director job description, and options for posting the position were tabled for two weeks.
