Mayville opened the week with a strong 12-5 road win over Lomira on Tuesday, May 5, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding insurance throughout the game. The Cardinals collected 15 hits in the victory, led by Kevin Keller’s 3-for-5 performance. Covyn Casper added two RBIs, while Keller also earned the win on the mound with five strikeouts over six innings.
Thursday, May 7, the Cardinals’ rematch at Fireman’s Field turned into a pitchers’ duel, with Lomira escaping with a 2-1 victory. Weston Teeters struck out seven and allowed just three hits over seven innings, while Teeters also drove in Mayville’s lone run with an RBI double in the third inning.
The Cardinals closed the week on Friday, May 8, in a back-and-forth slugfest against Columbus, ultimately falling 10-9 despite several offensive surges. After trailing 4-1 early, Mayville erupted for four runs in the third inning to take the lead and later added three more in the sixth to stay within striking distance. Columbus answered with key runs in the fourth and fifth innings and held off the Cardinals late to secure the one-run win.
