MITCHELL BRADLEY KELLER ou would be hardpressed to find a Marshlady basketball player that has had a larger impact on the sport in Horicon than Sandra Baerwald.A graduate of Horicon High School in 1988, Baerwald is best remembered as the Marshladies’ all-time leading scorer with 1,392 points and as a member of the 1988 Horicon team that was runner-up in the WIAAClass B State Championship game.

ZACH COOK The Lomira boys basketball team suffered its first loss of the 2019-20 season at the hands of Campbellsport on December 27. The Lions were without their top scorer and rebounder, as Jake Lax missed the gamed due to an illness.“I think, as a team, we learned a lot about ourselves,” Lomira Head Coach Tyler Witkowski said. “I wish we would have had more players step up without Jake playing, but I think as the game went on, we learned what we can and cannot do when we’re down in games.”

Cardinal Varsity Boys Basketball First Half Deficit Causes Defeat


KAREN ROUSE Cardinal boys varsity basketball was defeated by the Kewaskum Indians 68-47, at home on Tuesday, Dec. 17. At the end of the first half, Kewaskum dominated the scoreboard 38-17, a deficit which Mayville could not make up even though the Cards were tied 30-30 with their opponent in the second half.

MITCHELL BRADLEY KELLER It all came down to the final dual, and the difference between first and second place was just two points in the dramatic Horicon-hosted HTown Throwdown invite on Saturday, Dec. 14. Kenosha Christian Life (KCL) just edged out the Marshmen, 40-42, in the afternoon’s last and deciding dual. Horicon opened the five-round slate with a 9:15 a.m. matchup against Waterloo.
