Barb Held To Retire From Post Office After 35 Years


MITCHELL BRADLEY KELLER Horicon’s Post Office will lose a familiar face at the end of this month when Barb Held retires as the office supervisor. Held, who started her first position with the U.S. Postal Service in Allenton in June of 1984, will end her career just shy of 36 years. She has worked at the Horicon branch since March of 1985.

Van Brunt Memorial School Listed In The State Register Of Historic Places


The Wisconsin Historical Society placed the Van Brunt Memorial School in Horicon, Dodge County on the State Register of Historic Places in November.The Van Brunt Memorial School, built in 1922 and expanded with later additions, was designed by the notable Wisconsin firm of Parkinson and Dockendorff as a “combination school” housing primary (kindergarten through junior high) students and secondary (high school) students in separate wings.
