Gabby was born the son of Arnold and Josephine (Vollmer) Collien on September 10, 1945, in Fond du Lac. Gabby was a 1963 graduate of Mayville High School. He served his country faithfully in the US Army during Vietnam stationed in Korea. Upon returning from service Gabby continued his employment at Mayville Metal and would continue until his retirement after 43 years. He was united in marriage to Lori Schellpfeffer on July 18, 1997, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville. Gabby was member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mayville, as well as a member of the Mayville American Legion Post #69. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing with his family. Gabby also belonged to the Mayville Golf Club, Ducks Unlimited, Horicon Marsh Bowman, and the Mayville Gun Club. He also was active in his community and was a member of the Kekoskee Fire Department. Gabby was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, golfing, sturgeon spearing, and in his younger days trapping with his father. He enjoyed spending time up north in Eagle River and Boulder Junction. He had a real passion for all things sports. He spent many hours watching and attending Packer games, Badger hockey and football, and especially his beloved Chicago Blackhawks. He passed down a love for the Hawks to his special great nephews and niece. One of his favorite pastimes was attending all of his nephews and nieces sporting events. Whether it was hockey, softball, baseball, football, or soccer, he was always there. Gabby always enjoyed being on the move, whether it was a trip to the Horicon Marsh, flying across the ocean to Australia, or taking a cruise to Alaska. Gabby is survived by his wife Lori of Kekoskee; his siblings, Charlotte Feucht of Waupun, Mabel (Wayne) Billington of Mayville, Luann (Mick) Kallas of Eagle River, and Susan (Dave) Herman of West Bend; his mother-in-law, Marlene Schellpfeffer of Mayville; his siblings in-law, Cindy (Mark) Mansueto, Todd (Shelly) Schellpfeffer, and Greg (Tammy) Schellpfeffer all of Mayville. He is further survived by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Edwin A. Birr, 100 years, 3 months and 12 days old, of Watertown, and formally of Mayville, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020 at Highland House in Watertown. Edwin A. Birr was born the son of Richard and Ella (Spars) Birr on December 22, 1919, in Mayville. He was united in marriage to Elsie Birr on June 28, 1947, in Mayville. Edwin is a WWII veteran that served his country in Italy and Africa from 1940-1945. Upon returning home, he went to work at Maysteel for 45 years then Gleason Reel for 20 years. He also was a bartender for 30 years and then after retiring he was a school crossing guard and lawn mower/snow remover for 20 years. He was a member of Legion Post #69 in Mayville for 75 years serving as part of the drill and firing squads. Edwin is survived by his children, David (Roseanne) Birr of Mayville and Beth (Daniel) Zastrow of Watertown; three grandchildren, Eric (Becky) Birr, Anthony (Johanna) Birr and Branden Zastrow, two great-grandchildren; Gavin and Madison Birr. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elsie; one sister, Marion; and one brother, Clarence. He will be greatly missed for his contagious smile, laughter and stories told. Becker, 87, of Horicon passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Monday, March 23, 2020. Harlan was born the son of Julius and Regina (Nienhueser) Becker on November 20, 1932, in Concordia, MO. Harlan attended Saint Paul’s Lutheran Preparatory School and then continued his education at Concordia College, Seward, NE, (now Concordia University Nebraska). He was united in marriage to Carol J. Schuster on June 16, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merrill. Harlan spent much of his life as an educator, choir director, and music teacher sharing his God-given talents with many students over the years. Alongside his wife Carol, he was an active member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon. Harlan was involved in music ministry at the church, as well as choir director and organist for 38 years. He also directed the handbell choir and was on the Dodge County Concert Association Board. After retirement, Harlan and Carol continued their music ministry and they traveled extensively sharing their faith and their talents. In the 1970s and 1980s, the entire family toured as the Becker Bell Ringers. Harlan is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol of Horicon; his children, David (Sandra) Becker of Bismarck, ND, John (Barbara) Becker of Madison, and Catherine (Gary) Roscher of Carrollton, TX; his sisters, Norma Lakey of Broken Arrow, OK and Helen Stebbe of Indianapolis, IN; his grandchildren, Taylor (Dustin) Weeks, Torrie (Paul) Hally, Adam Becker, Paul Becker, Evie Ehrlich, and Allison (Lee) Olsen; his great-granddaughters, Norah Weeks, Hayden Thomashefsky, Corra Olsen, and Promise Olsen; and his great-grandson, Alder Olsen. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Marc was born the son of Fred and Katherine Trott on March 31, 1933, in Fond du Lac. He graduated from Goodrich High School in 1951. He was united in marriage to Nancy P. Zyzniewski on July 26, 1956, in Fond du Lac. Marc was employed by Regal Ware in Kewaskum, and then Speed Queen in Ripon, as a tool designer. He started employment with Miller Tool & Die in 1975, and eventually purchased the company in 1981. He retired in 2008 after many successful years in the tool and die business. Marc enjoyed many different hobbies. His passion was golf, and more specifically, the Mayville Golf Course. He was on the Board of Directors for many years, and was also a generous donor for many projects on the course. Up until the time of his passing, he was also involved with operating and managing the course with his son. Marc also enjoyed fishing with his family and spent many vacations in northern Wisconsin with them. He also loved going to Canada fishing with his sons, grandkids, and friends. Many great memories were made during his fishing adventures and they always remained dear to him. Marc was an avid sports fan and he truly enjoyed following the Packers and Brewers, both on TV, and at the games. Survivors include three children, Cathy Makela of Loretto, MN, Jeffrey (Mary) Trott of Horicon, and Marc Trott of Burnett; six grandchildren, Heather and Michael Krussow, Jessica, Michael, and Megan Trott, and Ryan Teson; one brother, Kenneth Trott; and one sister Florence Abbs; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends. Marc was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; son-in-law, Troy; and his siblings. A visitation will take place on Friday, July 17, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mayville. Delmar A. Schmidt, 84, of Horicon, left his earthly home to go to his heavenly home on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Delmar was born on June 17, 1936, to Arnold and Viola (Giese) Schmidt in Horicon. He graduated from Horicon High School in 1954 as a four-sport athlete in football, basketball, baseball, and track, and joined the United States Navy at age 17. While serving in the Navy, Delmar traveled to Brazil, New Zealand, Germany, and many other places. He also crossed the Panama Canal, sailed around South America, and served two expeditions to Antarctica. On May 23, 1959, Delmar said his “I do’s” to his favorite cheerleader and best friend, Lois Griepentrog. Delmar had various jobs throughout his life including working at John Deere and for the Dodge County Sheriff's Department and Justice Facility. During Delmar’s 51 years with Dodge County, he worked as a deputy sheriff, prison transporter, security officer, and bailiff. Delmar’s faith was very important to him and he was a lifelong member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, where he was baptized, confirmed, and served as an elder and usher. He was also president of the Parent Teacher League for St. Stephen Lutheran School. As an avid sports fan, Delmar loved watching the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers, but more importantly enjoyed watching his children and granddaughters play football, softball, basketball, and volleyball (from Little League to college ball), and traveled throughout the states cheering on their teams. Del also enjoyed playing sheepshead, eating Kurt’s homemade fish frys, watching birds, working on crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family and furry friend, Sophie. Delmar touched so many people’s lives, and was a joking, kind-hearted man, who made others feel good. Delmar is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lois of Horicon; his two children, Sharon (Eric) Johnson of Greenville, and their two daughters, Elizabeth of Avondale, AZ, and Meredith (Mark) Mutza of Stevens Point; and Kurt (Nancy) Schmidt of Beaver Dam, and their two daughters, Nicole of New Berlin and Abigail of Cedarburg. Del is further survived by sister-in-laws, Arlene Kamrath and Wanda Scheidegger; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Viola Schmidt; half-brothers, Elroy and Orville Kamrath; and half-sister, Lavern Gremler.
