Bauer, 78, of Lomira, affectionately known as “Mitzi” by family and friends, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at her residence. She was born on November 21, 1942, in New Holstein, the daughter of William and Rose (Koehler) Hanke. She graduated from Lomira High School in 1961. On September 28, 1963, Darlene married Dennis Bauer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2011. Darlene was a loving and devoted wife caring for him throughout his courageous battle with Leukemia. Darlene worked at Kondex Corporation, Cole Oil and Propane, and for the last twenty years for her son Shane at Bauer Physical Therapy in Fond du Lac. She loved her work because of the many friendships she developed over the years and it allowed her to be with and help people every day. She enjoyed reading and loved sewing. Darlene was everyone’s seamstress. Darlene enjoyed family gatherings, rarely missing an opportunity to spend time with loved ones. Darlene was a regular attendee at her grandchildren’s sporting events and enjoyed cheering on her grandchildren, as well as, getting to know her grandchildren’s teammates and families. She was a selfless caring woman who was always there for others in time of need. Everyone that knew Darlene described her as wonderful, sweet, loving and kind. Truly an angel among us. Her radiant smile and bright personality will be missed by all that knew her. Donnalee Grady, 81, of Hubbard passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021 at her home. Donnalee was born the daughter of William and Laura (Timms) Monk on April 27, 1939. She was a graduate of Riverdale High School. She had worked as bookkeeper for her husband and helped in managing their hotels. until her retirement. She was united in marriage to Richard W. Grady on March 29, 1964, in Chicago. In her spare time, Donnalee enjoyed sewing, painting, puzzles, and reading. She also loved gardening, ceramics, and playing cards, especially with her friends in Florida. Donnalee is survived by her husband, Richard of Hubbard; her daughters, Dawn Grady and Deborah Grady; her step-daughters, Tammy Grady and Shelly (Robert) Masters; her grandson, Casey (Crystal) Godush; her great-grandchildren, Lilley and Colsen Godush; further survived by other relatives and friends. Kaiser, 86, of Horicon, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison. Donald was born on October 5, 1934, in Appleton, to Walter and Helen (Dessort) Kaiser. He grew up in Pardeeville and later moved to Mayville with his family. He met Barbara Ulbricht from Horicon and they were united in marriage on June 11, 1955, at Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon. Don worked as a heavy equipment operator throughout his life and he was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local #139. He loved to hunt, especially in Colorado where he shot an elk, and in Clark County where he deer hunted. Don loved to snowmobile and was one of the founding members of the Horicon Marsh Snowmobile Club. He progressed to the county level where he served as president and was awarded the first Snowmobiler of the Year award. He went on to serve at the state level where he was a director for six years. Don and Barb traveled in their motor home for several years. They purchased a winter home in Fort Myers, FL, and were snowbirds for 21 years. Together they went on a month-long trip to Germany and also traveled to Austria, Switzerland and France. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Barbara Kaiser; their three children, Steven Kaiser, Faye (Ken) Dahlke and Joel (Grace) Kaiser; eight grandchildren, Kelly Werner, Amy Kaiser, Michelle Kaiser, Bobbie Schmitt, Dan Checolinski, Nick Checolinski, Jesse Kaiser, and Kevin Kaiser; eight great-grandchildren; his brother and sister, Wayne Kaiser and Sharon Kanas, both of Mayville; other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kurt Kaiser; his sisters, Carol Rhode who also died on January 18, 2021, and Charlotte Ruenzel; two daughters-in-law, Kristine Kaiser and Karen Kaiser. There will be a memorial gathering for Don at Zion Lutheran Church in Horicon on Saturday, Jan. 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A memorial service will follow at church on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. with Rev. Erna Agnes Bahr, 93, of Mayville, formerly of Cecil, passed away on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021. Erna was born on February 23, 1927, to the late Alex and Olga (Dobberphul) Benter in Dodge County. On December 3, 1977, Erna was united in marriage to David Robert Bahr in the Town of Washington. David preceded her in death on May 11, 2017. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in the Town of Washington. Erna will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Erna is survived by her children, David (Debbie) Miller, Steven (Michelle) Bahr, and Karen Bahr; a daughter-in-law, Carol Miller; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Louis (Hazel) Benter. She is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; one son, Robert; and her parents, Alex and Olga Benter. Allen A. Christian, 73, of rural Mayville, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, in the palliative care center at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison following a short period of illness with cancer. Allen was born the son of Arnold and Marilyn (Wendegatz) Christian on December 5, 1947. On June 13, 1970, he married Gloria (Krahn), at Emmanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, in the Township of Herman. Allen was a lifetime member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in the Township of Theresa, faithfully serving on many committees, chairs, as past elder and currently served on the school board and sang bass in the choir. He was a 1965 graduate of Mayville High School. He had worked over 30 years at Broan Mfg., Hartford, in the IT department. Allen served his country in the Army (1968-1969 Vietnam) and was a member of the American Legion Post 270, Theresa. He was an active member of the Lions Club of Theresa and currently served as secretary. Allen enjoyed many years of playing the bass in polka bands in the local area, the Milwaukee area and beyond, and all the lasting friendships that were created. He also enjoyed motorcycling, being outdoors in his woods and on his land. Allen is survived by his wife, Gloria; his daughter, Melissa (Jesse) Decker of Dodgeville and his son, Dustin (Lizzy Schneidler) Christian of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Mason and Megan Decker; mother, Marilyn Christian of Hartford; sisters, Nancy (Bill) Connell of Oconomowoc, Norene (Al) Gonring of Lomira, Marjean (Rick) Lerch of Theresa, Marsha (Dan) Roskopf of Mayville, and Annette (Bob) Foshey of Hartland; sister-in-law, Joyce Moldenhauer of Hartford and brother-in-law, Jerry (Pam) Krahn of Nashville, TN. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. Betty J. (Leichtle) Steger, 92, a resident of Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021. She was born in 1928 to Adolph and Angeline German in Fond du Lac. Betty graduated from Mayville High School. She was united in marriage to Vernon Lau on April 24, 1948. Vernon passed away. On November 28, 1964, she then married Clarence Steger and celebrated 50 years until he passed in 2015. Betty was a telephone operator in Theresa and then worked for Maysteel as a telephone operator/receptionist for many years. Together Betty and Clarence owned and operated “Clarence and Betty’s Tavern” in Theresa. She enjoyed going Sturgeon Spearing and bullhead fishing on the Rock River. She loved playing sheepshead, bingo, and enjoyed her trips to Oneida Casino. She enjoyed time with her family and will be missed by all who knew her. Betty had many health challenges in her lifetime, but through her deep faith, strong will and determination, she always found a way to move forward. Those Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory include her two children, D. Dennis Dean Bolstad, 62, of Horicon passed away on January 11, 2021, at the Aurora Medical Center in Burlington. Dennis was born the son of Elmer Bolstad, Jr. and Diane Kehl on May 17, 1958. He was a 1977 graduate of Horicon High School. He was employed at John Deere Company in Horicon until his retirement. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved listening to oldies music and taking rides on his Harley. He will be deeply missed by many. God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around him and whispered ‘come with me.’ God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best. Wayne D. Lindert, 79, of Horicon, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam. Wayne was born the son of Otto and Lena (Luebke) Lindert on August 18, 1941. Wayne was a 1959 graduate of Horicon High School. He farmed alongside his family for many years and then was a custodian until retirement at Hustisford High School. Wayne was a lifetime member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Mayville faithfully serving as a past elder and usher. In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed being outdoors and taking care of his lawn and also enjoyed baking. Wayne will he fondly remember as a hard worker who often put others before himself. Wayne is survived by his nieces, Judy (Robert) Rassman and Sherry (Peter) Gebauer, both of Horicon; further survived by other relatives and friends.
