Leo H. Marquardt
Leo H. Marquardt, age 69, of Kewaskum passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 20, 2020 at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
Leo was born May 11, 1950, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the son of Jerome and Luella (nee Scheinoha) Marquardt. The family moved to Kewaskum when he was a small child, and he eventually settled in the family home. He was a graduate of Kewaskum High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972.
He was a tool and die maker for all of his career. Leo liked tinkering and could repair anything mechanical put in front of him. What he really enjoyed, though, was all the family gatherings numerous times a year. His contribution was always a few bottles of wine to get everyone talking about current events. Not only was he an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, but he was also the “Family Room” coach. He led his brothers, brothers-in-law and nephews in comical analysis of current political and sporting misdirection at every family gathering.
In addition, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and deer hunting. His most memorable hunt occurred in September 2019. Health restrictions limited his walking so his brothers helped him set up a blind for bow hunting, and he shot a buck on opening weekend. Then in November 2019, he shot another deer on opening day. He hadn’t gone hunting for years, and he told the amazing 2019 deer hunting stories repeatedly to all of his family; and we enjoyed every minute of his hilarious rendition of the hunts. Leo loved us and we all loved him. He was an anchor in the family and he will be deeply missed.
Those Leo leaves behind to cherish his memory include five sisters, Mary Marquardt, Geri Marquardt, Lois (Robert) Yogerst, all of Kewaskum, Sandy (Tom) Gudex of Lannon, and Carol (Peter Carr) Marquardt of Brooklyn, New York. He is further survived by three brothers, Sylvester Marquardt of Brown Deer, Carl (Cindy) Marquardt of Kewaskum, and Herman Marquardt of Campbellsport; 14 nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Due to current restrictions, a private service and burial will be held for Leo’s family. A military burial will be at Lutheran Memorial Park Cemetery, Kewaskum, Wisconsin. A memorial gathering is being planned for later in the year.
