Leslie “Les” Gessner, age 62 years, of Beechwood was called home to be with the Lord on March 11, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Les was born on December 3, 1957 in Sheboygan to Byron W. and Rosella Gessner (Dobke). He was united in marriage to Cynthia Kiefer on June 12, 1976. Cynthia passed away on February 24, 2002. He was united in marriage to Amy Schmidt on September 18, 2004.
Les graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1976. He was owner-operator of Hi-Point Custom Parts in Beechwood. Les served with the Beechwood Fire Department for many years and retired from the Fire Department as Assistant Chief. Les was an avid trap shooter and belonged to numerous local sportsman’s clubs. He also enjoyed hunting bear, deer, turkey, and other small game. You could also find Les on the local lakes in pursuit of pan fish, and also in his beloved shop tinkering with projects for local farmers.
Those Les leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Amy; his daughter, Amanda (Miguel) Perez; three step-children, Matt (Becky) Hammen, Megan (Kevin) Kusnick, and Melissa Hammen; two brothers, Byron J. (Sharon) Gessner and Larry (Rose) Gessner; step-mother, Margie Gessner and her four children, Jeff Schroer, Linda (Steve) Anderson, Christi (Chuck) Larson, and Michael Schroer; and seven grandchildren, Vince, Miguel, Cisco, Junior, Noemi, Madison, and Landon. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Cynthia; Les was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Megan; and nephew, Tracy Gessner.
Les’ family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee for the loving care they provided.
Due to the current COVID – 19 outbreak the CDC has issued social distancing guidelines including limiting gatherings to 50 people or less. In light of this, the services for Les will be private.
